VintageGuns Shooting Tuition

Everyone who shoots, no matter how well or for how long benefits from some expert tuition. Lots of people claim to be good shooting instructors but ours is an acknowledged leader in his field and a real authority on the art of shotgun shooting.

  • Do you have a new gun? Are you worried it might not fit you?
  • Do you struggle to hit a particular target? Do you want to learn how?
  • Are you preparing for a big day? Are you afraid you may struggle?
  • Are you returning to shooting after some years? Do you want to find your form?
  • Are you a ‘C-Class shooter? Do you want to become ‘B-Class or ‘A-Class’?
  • Do you have a child who needs to learn how to be a safe and competent shot?

Mike Yardley, author of ‘Gunfitting-the Quest for Perfection’, ‘The Shotgun: A Shooting Instructor’s Handbook’, ‘Clay Pigeon Shooting; A History’ and ‘Positive Shooting’ is probably the top name in shooting instruction in the UK today. He is a World authority on gun fitting and shooting technique and has probably tested more guns for the shooting press (Shooting Gazette, Shooting Times, Sporting Shooter, Gun Mart, The Field, Shooting Sports) than any other living writer.

Mike will make sure your gun fits you, and adjust it if necessary. If your gun does not fit you, you will not be performing to your potential. He will assess your shooting style and help you to become a more confident and competent (and indeed elegant) shot.

Mike operates his classes from Braintree Shooting Ground but other locations are possible, by request.

Our second instructor is Robin Matthews, also a very experienced and capable shooting instructor, who we took on with the express recommendation of Mike Yardley to be his 'number two'. If two instructors are required or Mike is unavailable, Robin fills in seamlessly.dscn0641.jpg
