Purdey 16088
An interesting and unique 12-bore Purdey self-opening sidelock ejector. Made in the 1890s and re-engraved, probably in the 1990s, with deep carved foliate scrolls and grouse, pheasants and American wild turkey. Beaver-tail forend, falt, matted rib with intermediate bead sight and gold inlaid maker's name. Briley interchangeable chokes fitted to the 28" barrels. The cost of engraving alone would be far in excess of the price we are asking for the gun. We estimate the cost of re-engraving, re-stocking, altering the forend and fitting Briley chokes would cost around £25,000 at today's prices. This was someone's dream project.
