In the first of several films on the making of best British sporting guns, Purdey craftsmen guide us through the processes.

This film takes viewers to the workshop of the barrel maker. All guns begin with a set of barrels, in the case of a Purdey, chopper-lump barrels, for a best sidelock.

Making barrels is hard, physical work as well as requiring very high levels of skill and experience. it is a combination of art, ironmongery and engineering.
