2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of John Rigby & Co. The founder first set-up in business as a gunmaker in Suffolk Street, Dublin in 1775.
Rigby has since grown into Britain's largest volume producer of sporting firearms and is also the oldest gunmaker in the English speaking world.
Although Rigby has been in continuous business for 250 years, not all those years have been straighforward and the company was sold to American interests in the late 1990s and it seemed that the venerable old gunmaker was gone for good.
However, the American eposode was not a happy one and Rigby's reputation and output fell to lows few ever imagined possible, until it was returned to London in 2012 following purchase by the German L&O Group (now the Blaser Group).
Since its return to London, Rigby has grown beyond the wildest dreams of those involved at the beginning of the project. That story is now told in a beautiful coffee-table sized book by Marc Newton (Rigby's Managing Director) and Diggory Hadoke (Rigby's Historian & Archivist).
The book is beautifully illustrated with photographs documenting Rigby's rise back to the top of the London gun trade and contains historical and archival material and analysis never before published.
This stunning volume is bound in a sandy, safari canvas, with deeply embossed Rigby logo and lettering. Strictly limited to a single print run of 1,000 numbered copies, it is a 'must have' for all Rigby enthusiasts and demand is sure to exceed supply (over one thousand Rigby rifles have been sold since 2013).
Signed, numbered copies can be purchased direct, only from Rigby. Requests for signed and dedicated copies can be made via the Rigby website.
Details about placing an advance order are on the Rigby website. Copies will be ready for shipping in mid-May.
